Racism: In the Face of Hate We Resist

Artist Statement:

8 minutes and 46 seconds. That’s how long the police officer (fully aware he was being videotaped) kept his knee on the neck of George Floyd. As footage of the murder went viral, for many it stood as a WAKE-UP! call to the systemic racism pervasive in our society. For others it was a grim reminder of how little value is placed upon our lives and another weight added to the lifelong oppressive burden of racism. To the newly awakened, I say keep your eyes open and STAY WOKE, because we are not going to solve a problem over 400 years in the making in the blink of an eye.
