Q. What are the dates for the 2024 Great Wisconsin Quilt Show?

A. The 2024 Great Wisconsin Quilt Show will be held Sept. 5-7 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

Q: Where is the Alliant Energy Center located?

A: The address for the Alliant Energy Center is 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way, Madison WI 53713. The event will take place in the Exhibition Hall.

Q. When can I purchase advance tickets and register for classes?

A. Advance online ticket sales and class registration for the 2024 Great Wisconsin Quilt Show will be available July 8-Sept. 4. Admission tickets and registration for remaining class openings are also available for purchase at the event.

Q. Will there be a virtual component to this year’s Great Wisconsin Quilt Show?

A. During the 2024 event, Wednesday through Friday, we will record several short videos featuring interviews with quilting celebrities, presenters, vendors and Quilt Contest award winners. These live videos will be shared on our Facebook page, website and on PBS Wisconsin’s YouTube channel.

In addition to these live updates, PBS Wisconsin will record four one-hour educational lectures at the event. We plan to share these presentations via social media and e-newsletters in the months following the event.

Additionally, The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show community convenes throughout the year on Facebook and Instagram, celebrating the work of our quilters and participating in online-exclusive challenges. Follow us on social media to be part of the year-round fun!

Q. When will I hear whether my quilt has been accepted into the Quilt Contest?

A. Contest notification letters are mailed at the end of July. Acceptance letters include information about shipping or delivering quilts.

Q. Are hotel rooms available for The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show?

A. Destination Madison offers a block of hotel rooms for Great Wisconsin Quilt Show attendees. Click here to make a hotel reservation. Rates and availability are subject to change. For assistance please call 1-800-365-4931.

Q. How much is parking at the Alliant Energy Center?

A. The Alliant Energy Center charges $8 per car for parking each day. Cash and credit cards are accepted (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express). Parking for buses is $24 per day. The daily parking fee allows same-day reentry with a parking ticket stub.

Q. Is the event venue accessible?

A. The Alliant Energy Center is ADA compliant. More information about building accessibility is available here.

Q. How do I request accommodations?

Q. Can I rent a wheelchair or motorized scooter at the event?

A. Wheelchairs and scooters are not available for on-site rental. You are welcome to bring your own device.

Q: Are there any onsite language accommodations?

A: Major event directional signage is translated in Hmong and Spanish, and vendors who are fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), Hmong and/or Spanish are denoted on the vendor mall.

Q. What are the food options available at The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show?

A. The Alliant Energy Center offers a variety of concessions during the show. Offerings typically include sandwiches, coffee, water, soft drinks, ice cream and other snacks. There is also a food bistro with seating that serves hot entrees, soups and salads. No outside food is permitted. Please note: All food & beverage locations are now cashless.

Q. Do kids get into the event for free?

A. Yes, children 12 and under are free, and must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Q. If I have a ticket to attend an evening event, do I need to purchase an admission ticket?

A. The evening events begin at 6 p.m. If you arrive to Quilt Show after 5:30 p.m., you will not need to purchase an admission ticket. If you arrive before then, you will need to purchase a ticket to enter the show. Please arrive by 5:45 p.m. as the exterior building doors will be locked at 6 p.m.

Q. I have a class that begins at 8:30 a.m., but the event doesn’t open until 9 a.m. How will I be able to get to my class in time?

A. You will be able to access the building through the lobby doors beginning at 8 a.m. to get to your class by 8:30 a.m. The vendor mall and quilt exhibits open at 9 a.m.

Q: Will there be heavy traffic when I come to the event on Saturday morning? 

A: The 2024 IRONMAN 70.3 Wisconsin race is routed through the Alliant Energy Center back parking lot and will cause a highway exit closure on Saturday morning. But with a simple reroute, there should be smooth traffic patterns entering The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show on Saturday.

DO NOT use the RIMROCK exit (#262) from Hwy 12/18 (the Beltline). 

USE THE JOHN NOLEN DR. EXIT (#263) ON SATURDAY!

The Alliant Energy Center will not be accessible headed north on Rimrock. 

Both the Rusk and Alliant Energy Center Way Gates will be open for entry all day Saturday, Sept. 7.
