Artist Statement:

This scene, styled in the manner of Maxfield Parrish's painting "Dream Castle in the Sky," is a visual interpretation of Longfellow's poem "The Four Lakes of Madison." It is intended to acquaint more people with his 1876 tribute to Wisconsin's beautiful capital city. The text is a line taken from the poem, which was screen printed on matching fabric prior to being applied to the finished quilt.
