Artist Statement:

The inspiration for this quilt came while I was watching the attempted arrest of George Floyd. He shouted out “Mama.” I shuddered. His call to his deceased mother was a wakeup call. A call to all mothers to address the burden placed upon our hearts when our children are challenged with unjust treatment. My words, “Another Lynching,” express the ultimate injury and then death that George experienced. George knew he was dying. His voice cracked, whispering, he let her know that he was coming home soon to be in her loving arms.

The story this quilt tells is a tribute to all the Mamas who have wept with, and for their children. I pray the killings will stop. Enuf is Enuf!
