Racism: In the Face of Hate We Resist

Artist Statement:

The Akoben symbol is one of many Adinkra symbols. Its meaning is so powerful and appropriate for what my heart, body, and soul are experiencing.

The Akoben is a battle horn, vigilance, a call to arms, readiness and preparedness for action or battle.

He cried out for his mother:

When a child in distress calls out for his mother, it activates the warrior from deep within. “Mother Akoben” wears her battle horn crown to say she can no longer be silent.
