Racism: In the Face of Hate We Resist
Artist Statement:
Urban documentarians with cell phones have provided proof of what we have always known, and we see another truth about the murders of Black people at the hands of police. In making this quilt, I was thinking both about the craziness and chaos around the scene of a crime and about Picasso’s Guernica. The quilt’s words include “My Son,” “Hands Up,” “Don’t Shoot,” “Can’t Breathe,” and “Murder.”
