Artist Statement:
Using the heron from Toni Whitney's design as my foundation, I created feathers with thread painting. The cattails were done with machine felting to add texture. The piece also incorporates lace, beading and embroidery. I machine quilted the background on my longarm. When I look at this piece I see the heron watching as the sailboats head to port and the seagulls fly across the moon in search of their nests. There is peace in the world.
